Dear Bothwell Ranch Neighbors,
As some of you know, a few of us fellow neighbors have been organizing to save Los Angeles’s last orange farm, Bothwell Ranch, from being completely lost to development. After many months of working closely with Councilmember Bob Blumenfield’s Office, we are excited to share the creation of the Bothwell Ranch Foundation!
Our goal, as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, is to purchase the Ranch and preserve it on environmental and historical principles. Our vision is to transform this beautiful orchard into a thriving green space, host educational visits for students, offer community access for nature walks and orange picking, and provide abundant produce to our Greater Los Angeles neighbors.
As Neighbors - We would like to assure you that we are dedicated to creating limited public access and a beloved community asset, not an unmanageable public park. Board Member Miles Lewis lives across from the Ranch and Board Member Jane Dalea-Kahn lives within a mile. While canvassing the neighborhood last year, this is the greatest concern they heard.
Please Note - On May 20th, the Los Angeles City Council is scheduled to take a final vote on Bothwell Ranch’s Cultural Historic Monument status. If you’d like to make a public comment on this matter, please visit: cityclerk.lacity.org/publiccomment/.
Of course, if you have any questions do not hesitate to write to us at support@bothwellranchfoundation.org. We encourage you to visit our website: bothwellranch.org, for more information about our mission, vision, goals and the history of the Ranch.
We still have a long way to, fundraising to purchase the property and get our programming off the ground. We would greatly appreciate any amount you’re able to give as we are creating a network of donors, big and small. We completely understand if you’re unable to make a tax deductible donation at this time but, if you can, it’s as simple as clicking here: www.bothwellranch.org/donate. You can also support us by following us on the Bothwell Ranch Foundation’s social media, links below, and by spreading the word by sharing this email to our San Fernando Valley community!
We look forward to the day when we can all meet to discuss how the Bothwell Ranch Foundation can improve our community. Until then, we hope you are all healthy and staying positive.
With gratitude,
Jane Dalea-Kahn, Board Member & Bothwell Ranch Neighbor
Miles Lewis, Board Member & Bothwell Ranch Neighbor
